LG Display announced that its 27-inch Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) Gaming OLED panel has received the prestigious “Display of the Year” honor from Society for Information Display, recognizing what the industry group described as one of the most groundbreaking display products introduced over the past year.
The award highlights LG Display’s push into next-generation gaming screens with a panel designed to let users switch between two performance-focused operating modes depending on the type of game being played. In high-refresh-rate mode, the display reaches an industry-leading 720Hz refresh rate at HD resolution, aimed at fast-paced esports titles such as first-person shooters and racing games where motion clarity and reaction speed matter most.
For visually demanding games, the panel can also operate in high-resolution mode, delivering QHD resolution alongside a 540Hz refresh rate. LG Display said it used proprietary algorithms to maintain image quality at refresh rates above 500Hz, a level where conventional panels often begin to struggle.
The OLED panel also earned ClearMR 21000 certification from Video Electronics Standards Association, the highest tier in the motion clarity rating system, underscoring its ability to minimize blur and ghosting during rapid movement.
Additional specifications include peak brightness of 1,500 nits in both operating modes and an ultra-fast 0.02ms response time, placing the panel among the most advanced gaming display technologies currently announced.
Young-seok Choi, Chief Technology Officer of LG Display, said the company plans to continue leading the gaming display segment through differentiated OLED technologies and continued innovation.
The award comes ahead of SID Display Week 2026, scheduled for May 3 to 8 in Los Angeles, where many of the industry’s newest display technologies will be showcased.
