Chile’s video game industry has grown in the past 20 years, with over 70 companies generating annual revenues of approximately $12 million. The industry has developed top-rated games and has attracted attention from international players. For example, in 2018, mobile game developer TinyBytes raised $1.4 million from Initial Capital and London Venture Partners, and in 2020, ACE Team and Critical Failure received Epic MegaGrants. Last year, Chilean game developers achieved several milestones, including Kongregate’s acquisition of Gamaga and Niebla Games’ selection for Google Play’s Indie Games Accelerator. Chilean studios have adapted to fulfill the increasing demand for video games on different platforms, including Nintendo, PC, PlayStation, Steam, Xbox, Amazon, Android, and Apple. Chilean game developers will be part of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in 2023, with six studios participating in person and nine others virtually.
